5' 4½" 1.64 m is a German actress.Born and grew up in the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin, when this was still part of the communist area of the GDR, the East German side of the separated Germany.
Was discovered by a talent scout during practicing with her theater dance group in Berlin (1995).
Studied at the Drama School "Ernst Busch" in Berlin.
She is probably most well known to English-speaking audiences for her appearances in the Academy Award Best Picture-nominee The Reader and in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, the 2006 film adaptation of Patrick Suskind's best-selling novel Das Parfum.The feature was directed by Tom Tykwer; Herfurth played the "Plum Girl", the first victim of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille. She co-starred with Dustin Hoffman, Ben Whishaw, Alan Rickman, Rachel Hurd-Wood, and Jessica Schwarz, another German actress.It was the famous picture of Herfurth with Whishaw in the background that was heavily used in promotion.
Prior to her appearance in this international feature, she performed in several independent German films and TV projects, such as Girls on Top and Big Girls Don't Cry. She portrayed Lena in the German vampire film We Are the Night.
